      I.     

At the end of each month, Mirelle returns to the Willow without fail. She trims dead branches, buries wilted leaves and washes bark with rainwater.Fire is not permitted near the tree. No iron touches it.And she speaks to the Willow as though it were listening to the idle ramblings. Perhaps it is.

      II.     

Mirelle does not believe the willow grants happiness, nor does it subject one to unwarranted cruelty. It is honest. The willow answers exactly what is asked of it, no more, no less.To blame the tree for its literalness is, to Mirelle, the same as blaming a mirror for the face reflected within it. She will not interfere with wishes once spoken.Every desire carries a cost long before magic touches it. The willow merely makes that cost visible.

      III.     

Years ago, a desperate businessman wished for unimaginable wealth beneath the willow. The tree answered.Within the decade, the harvesting and distrubition of "One Wish Willow" branches became an industry.The rich called it innovation. Mirelle called it hunger given structure.

      IV.     

Mirelle rarely remains in the same place for more than several nights.She travels continuously between towns, ports, ruins, and forgotten roads, collecting objects too unusual or inconvenient for ordinary merchants to acquire.Her routes are inconsistent to everyone except herself.Somehow, regardless of distance, weather, or circumstance, she returns to the willow at the end of every month without fail.
